Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet deflecting electrode which prevents the creeping discharge or the like by forming hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces on the surface of an insulating substrate. CONSTITUTION:Hydrophilic surfaces 10a, 10b and a hydrophobic surface 11 are formed on the surface of an insulating substrate 6 having different polarity electrode plates 12 on both front and rear surfaces, and the surfaces 10a, 10b are used as ink mist effluent passage. Hydrophobic substance [such as, for example, Teflon (registered trademark) or silicone resin] is coated on the surface of the substrate 6 and on a part of the electrode plate 12 to preferably form a hydrophobic surface 11. The surface resistance of the hydrophobic surface increases by forming the hydrophobic surface to cause a creeping discharge to hardly occur. Since ink mist quickly drops, even if adhered, from hydrophilic ink mist flow passages 10a, 10b, it does not disturb the flying of the ink droplet.
