Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent deformation of a push rod of a valve motion system and to compensate for a wear of the push rod by constituting an oil containing tappet such that such an extension force of the push rod when the push rod is extended by thermal expansion or the like can be absorbed thereby.
CONSTITUTION: A pusher member 4 is slidably fitted on an inner circumferential face 3 at an upper opening of a bottomed tapped cylinder 2 adapted to be pushed up by a lifting cam 1. A compressed air chamber 10 and a buffer oil chamber 11 are defined by a flexible elastic diaphragm 9 between the bottomed tapped cylinder 2 and the bottom of the pusher member 4 which receives the lower end of a push rod 5. The compressed air chamber 10 is communicated to open air by an air hole 12. A plunger cylinder 15 in the form of an inverted glass is slidably fitted in the tappet cylinder 2 and partitions the buffer oil chamber 11 and a pressure oil storage chamber 21 which are communicated to each other through an opening 23 formed in the center of a top wall 16 of the cylinder 15 and a check valve 25. The plunger cylinder 15 is urged upwardly by a coil spring 22.
