Abstract

PURPOSE: To absorb a minute displacement in a valve moving system, improve airtightness during the valve is closed and secure a normal operation and durability of an internal-combustion engine by a method wherein a means to enclose a predetermined amount of a gaseous body within a pressure chamber is provided.
CONSTITUTION: A spherical head portion 15 of a plunger 13 is journaled at one end of a locker arm. When a compressive load is impressed from the spherical head portion 15, a pressure in a pressure chamber 19 is increased and lubricating oil can not escape by a nonreturn valve 20, therefore, the plunger 13 receives the compressive load with respect to a cylinder 14. This compressive rigidity is necessary for keeping a motion in a valve moving system in a normal condition, but a minute error in a cam profile is appeared faithfully in a motion of a valve due to the compressive rigidity, therefore, a hole 27 is provided and air is sealed so as to enable a free relative displacement of the plunger 13 with respect to the cylinder 14 until the load of some strength is exerted. According to this method, a minute displacement of the cam may be absorbed.
