Abstract

PURPOSE: To absorb the impact due to the inertial force of suction/exhaust valve and prevent noises from occurring, by providing two free pistons sandwiching a spring in a tappet for decreasing the clearance of the valve.
CONSTITUTION: A plunger 3 slidable in the tappet 1 is coupled through a cap 5 to a push rod 4 connected to the suction/exhaust valve. A chamber B is defined in the plunger 3 so that oil flows into the chamber from an oil passage 6. This oil is further introduced into a hydraulic pressure chamber A through a check valve 7 installed at the chamber B. A second hydraulic pressure chamber D is defined between a free piston 8 and a second free piston 15 having a balancing hole 14 and is located below the hydravlic pressure chamber A. The spring 16 interposed between both the free pistons. Therefore, the drastic motion of the push rod 4 is damped by the second hydraulic pressure chamber D
