PURPOSE:To detect uneven rotation highly accurately by reflecting the light entering a plane mirror fitted to the rotating shaft of a rotatable body in the direction assuming a small angle to the incident light thence fetching the signal for time change of the quantity of light through a transmission type optical wedge. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam 2 emitted from a laser light source 1 enters a plane mirror 4 fitted to the end face of the rotating shaft 55 of a rotatable body 5. When the rotatable body 5 rotates, the reflected beam 2' draws the circle 66 of a radius (l).theta according to the angle theta of deviation from an optical axis 22, and the distance (l) from the plane mirror 4 up to a cylindrical lens 6, and this is converted to a line 9 of light making reciprocative linear motion on a photodetector 8 by the lens 6. An optical wedge 10 is disposed just before the photodetector 8, and the output signal of the photodetector 8 is the signal corresponding to the density gradation of the optical wedge 10.
