Abstract
PURPOSE:To surely detect a mark which is not affected by the hue and tone of a natural material such as timber by coating said mark on the surface of said natural material, detecting the reflection of the projected light from the mark and two points near the same with three optical sensors and comparing the same. CONSTITUTION:A mark 2 is coated on a natural material 1 such as timber by a timber ink. When te timber 1 is moved in an arrow direction by a conveyor, the mark 2 is irradiated by a light source 3, and the reflected rays from the point on the mark and the two points near the same and outside the mark are imaged via a lens 5 on three photodetectors 6a, 6o, 6b of a photodetecting part 4. The outputs thereof are inputted to differential amplifiers P, Q via amplifiers A, O, B. The outputs (p), (q) corresponding to the differences in reflection between the point on the mark and the other two points are compared with set values in comparators P', Q', and the passage of the mark line 2 is detected by the output (x) thereof via an AND circuit X. Thereby, the mark 2 is surely detected.
