Abstract
PURPOSE:To contrive the cost reduction of a cold cathode gas laser tube by a method wherein a metallic cylinder formed with an Al evaporated film is fitted coaxially with a capillary tubing to form the cathode. CONSTITUTION:The capillary tubing 5 is coaxially supported by a part 1' of a casing 1. The metallic cylinder 6 made the cathode 7 by evaporating the Al along an inner wall of the casing 1 is installed along the inner wall. Further, mirros 4, 4' are fitted to an anode 3 and an electrode 3 for cathode. In this construction, a very small amount of the Al in high purity is only required and moreover, with the use of a low-priced iron cylinder 6 with rigidity, the distance between the center of the capillary tubing 5 and the cathode 7 is kept always constant, the current density on the cathode surface being made uniform and the life time of the cathode is prolonged.
