Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce an electrolytic copper foil directly from crude copper with less energy loss by immersing the crude copper and a beltlike conductor into electrolyte and electrolyzing the same, then stripping the copper stuck on the conductor.
CONSTITUTION: Crude copper 12 and a conductor such as stainless steel belt 13 which is insulated on the back surface are immersed in electrolyte 11 such as sulfuric acid filled in a vessel 10. If electrolysis is performed by applying positive voltage from a power source device 16 to the crude copper 12 and negative voltage to the belt 13, copper elutes from the crude copper 12 and electrodeposits on the surface of the belt 13. The copper electrodeposited on the belt 13 is stripped by the rotation of the belt 13 at the point of the time when it goes out into air from the inside of the electrolyte 11. Thence, it is sent to a surface treating part 18 by a guide roll 17, and is given ruggedness or the like, after which it passes through a rinsing part 21 and a drying part 22 and is wound on a take-up roll 23. By this method, the consumption of electric energy is decreased to about 1/2 as compared to the case of obtaining electrolytic copper foils from electrolytic copper.
