Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a sealant material which does not leave bubbles after curing, by a method wherein carbon black (which has a large surface area and exhibits less oil absorption) in an amount above a specified weight is blended with a compsn. consisting of a urethane prepolymer having isocyanate groups and a plasticizer.
CONSTITUTION: A urethane prepolymer (A) having 0.4W6% isocyanate groups at its terminal and an average MW of 740W28,000, 20W400wt% (based on the weight of the component A) plasticizer (B) such as dioctyl phthalate or diisodecyl phthalate, and carbon black (C) having a surface area of 80m2/g or more and an oil absorption of 1.5cc/g or below in an amount of not less than the weight calculated by the formula, are mixed together to obtain the titled sealant material. During the use of the sealant material, carbon dioxide evolved by the reaction of the isocyanate groups in the sealant with water is adsorbed by carbon black. The bubbles after the curing of the sealant material is prevented from being left behind.
