CONSTITUTION:Light emitting diodes 111-11M are driven through switches 141- 14M which are switched under the control of control circuit 15. Outputs of phototransistors 121-12N are led out via switches 171-17N driven by control circuit 19. Near the surface of original 22, light emitting and photodetecting optical fibers 21 and 23 are arranged. Then, when one light emitting diode turns on, light is transmitted via fiber 21 in the group and the reflected light of original 22 is photodetected by phototransistor 12 by way of fiber 23. Therefore, since the optical fibers are used as an optical system, uniform resolution can be obtained even at the circumferential part of the original surface.
