Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the quality of an image by mixing two kinds of magnetic powders of needlelike and cubic system crystals to prepare a PPC system one-component magnetic toner consisting of magnetic powder and thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic powders of needlelike crystals 3 and cubic system crystals 2 are mixed in 2:8-8:2 ratio and contained by 30-65pts.wt. to 100pts.wt. of toner 1 to adjust the electric resistance of the toner to 10<10>-10<16>OMEGA-cm. Cubic system crystals cause uneven development, and it is difficult for needlelike crystals to produce halftone, yet by mixing both the crystals, the properties are improved. When the part weigh of the magnetic powders is reduced, the scattering amount is increased to cause ground fog. On the other hand, more magnetic powders extremely lower the fixability of the toner, scratch a photoreceptor, and make the electric resistance unsuitable. The magnetic characteristics of a toner contg. a single kind of magnetic powder can be fitted to those of this toner contg. the mixed powders, but this toner provides higher quality to an image.
