PURPOSE:To enable color-blind and blind people to discriminate hue, by converting a hue information into an electric signal, and also by making it possible to produce different tones in accordance with the electric signal. CONSTITUTION:The hue of a light emitted from an object to be measured is discriminated and converted into an electric signal by a color-discriminating converter, etc., and a musical scale producing circuit, etc. is driven in accordance with the electric signal to produce a tone corresponding to the hue, and in doing go, a hue is expressed by a tone. A reflection light from surface of an object 5 to be measured, for example, enters a color-discriminating converter 6 and converted into currents in accordance with light intensity of three primary colors of red, blue and green. These currents are then converted to digital signals by an AD converter 8 through an operation amplifier 7, put into a small-type calculator 9 for discrimination of hues and, by a musical scale circuit 10, a sound of tone corresponding to the hue is produced by an earphone 11, such as ''do'' if a hue is red and ''re'' if the color is orange, etc.
