PURPOSE:To obtain the arm rest in a hollow shape having a soft surface layer provided with a grain pattern at its surface by a method wherein a soft synthetic resin coating material is coated on a cavity surface provided with a grain pattern, and under the condition where the coated film is not yet cured, a parison is introduced into the cavity and air is blown into the inside of the parison. CONSTITUTION:The soft synthetic resin coating material (e.g, a powder of soft vinyl chloride containing a plasticizer, etc.) is sprayed onto the inside surface of the hollow metallic mold 1, 1 having the grain pattern at the inside surface thereof, and the parison 3 is introduced while the coated film 2 is semi-cured. After closing the mold, air is blown into the inside of the parison through the a blowing-in part 4. After cooling, the mold is opened to obtain the hollow arm rest 6 connected integrally with the soft surface layer 5 which has the grain pattern. The part of the surface layer 5 corresponding to the parting line of the molds in nipped between the molds and is bitten away to produce a single pattern line 7, resulting in a superior appearance with an accent.
