Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the weight of a balance weight and to enhance its productivity, by deforming the balance weight along the entire periphery of a hole formed on the opposite side of an eccentric shaft, and fixing the balance weight to a crank shaft by way of caulking.
CONSTITUTION: A balance wieght 2 is made of steel plate by way of plastic working and caulked to a crank shaft 1 after deforming the balance weight 2 along the entire periphery of a clamping hole formed in a face 2a on the opposite side of an eccentric shaft by means of a punch 14 having a substantially V-shaped cross section. By employing such a method, press fitting and threading of the balance weight 2 to the crank shaft 1 can be made unnecessary, so that it is enabled to reduce the weight of the balance weight and enhance productivity of the same.
