NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of formula I (R1 and R2 together form a condensed benzene ring which may be substituted with 3W5C methylene chain or alkoxy group; R3 is mono- or dialkylamino, pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino which may be substituted with amino or hydroxyl groups; R is alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylamino) and their pharmaceutically permissible acid adducts.
EXAMPLE: 4-Amino-2-[ 4-( methylthio-N-cyanoiminocarbonyl )piperazino ]-5, 6-tetramethylenepyrimidine.
USE: A histamine H2 receptor blocking agent: they have activities of inhibiting the secretion of stomach acid, of anti-inflammation and effect on cardiovascular system.
PREPARATION: The reaction of a compound of formula II with another compound of formula III (R4 is alkylthio) affords a compound of formula I where R is alkylthio.
