Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain high precision and an excellent reproduction output of improved azimuth adjustment and resolution by forming recording and reproducing heads in a body, by providing a main magnetic pole that holds a magnetic resistance element between high-magnetic permeability members through an insulating member. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic resistance element 17 is fitted to current-supplying thin film 18 and while they are held by sandwiching, interlayer insulating members 191 and 192 are provided. On member 191, thin film 20 for bias magnetic field supply and interlayer insulating member 193 are fitted. Insulating members 192 and 193 are provided with high-magnetic permeability members 211 and 212 to form magnetic pole part 22, which is contained in holder 23. Consequently, magnetic flux generated in recording is focused on main magnetic pole 14 via magnetic medium and magnetic layer 13 is magnetized at right angles to a medium surface, performing excellent information recording. In reproduction, thin-film magnetic resistance element 17 is applied with biasing electric current and magnetic field by way of thin films 18 and 20 and only element 17 is used as a reproducing head. Consequently, an excellent reproduction output of improved resolution can be obtained.
