Abstract
PURPOSE:To lower the frequency and to miniaturize the piezoelectric transformer by bonding a longitudinally effective high impedance vibrator to a metal plate directly or via an insulating layer, taking out an output terminal, and taking out a driving terminal from a laterally effective low impedance vibrator. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 34 and 35 are formed on the top and bottom surfaces of a piezoelectromagnetic plate polarized in the direction of thickness. The laterally effective low impedance vibrator 31 which vibrates in the longitudinal direction is provided. Electrodes 36 and 37 are provided at both ends of one surface of piezoelectromagnetic plate which is polarized in the longitudinal direction. The longitudinally effective high impedance vibrator 32 which vibrates in the longitudinal direction is provided on one or both sides of the metal plate 33. At least the longitudinally effective high impedance vibrator 32 is bonded to the metal plate 33 via an insulator 38. In this constitution, the laterally effective low impedance vibrator 31 is driven, the longitudinally effective high impedance vibrator 32 works as a generator, and the piezoelectric transformer is formed by utilizing the bending vibration mode. Thus, the compact device with the frequency band of several hundreds - several tens kHz can be obtained.
