Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent brake creaking, by coating the friction surface of a semimetallic friction member, including metallic fibers, with one or more material belonging to a specific group or compound containing such material.
CONSTITUTION: A specific group of material consists of thermosetting resin such as phenol resin, thermoplastic resin such as fluororesin, rubber such as NBR rubber and silicon material such as silicon rubber. One or more among these material or composite containing 5mol% or more of these material is added with filler, age resistor and lubricant to be used for coating. A 1W100μ thick coating layer 1 is formed on the friction surface of a friction member composed of steel fibers 2, coarse filler 3 and binder resin 4. The steel fibers, fixed compactly, are not nappy without falling and can prevent creaking of the brake.
