Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately measure a packing time for every cast product, and make possible sufficient control of casting conditions by measuring the acceleration of an injection plunger tip which force-feeds molten metal into dies, and measuring a stop signal for said tip by the change in the acceleration.
CONSTITUTION: A signal Sf is beforehand applied to a circuit 32, and molten metal 17 is force-fed into a cavity 14 by an injection plunger tip 18. As an increase in the force-fed molten metal, pulse signals are supplied to a detector 25 by the stripe pattern 24 of a piston rod 23. A circuit 28 receives these, measures the period of each signal and supplies the values thereof to circuits 30, 31. The circuit 31 stores the cumulative period value of the cumulative signal. When the tip 18 ends packing the rod 23 stops and just before it stops, the circuit 30 detects a period specifying value and supplies the predetermined signal to the circuits 28, 32. The circuit 32 reads the time Tn from the start of the injection of the circuit 31 til the end of the packing, and obtains the packing time Tf from this and Sf by the formula. T(n-f) is the time from the start of injection until the tip 18 is extruded up to the molten metal gate part. The time Tf is displayed on a display 33.
