CONSTITUTION: When the electric railway vehicle is driven normally, a contactor KE for the emergency electric power source is disconnected and the three phase whole wave rectifier DEM for the emergency electric power source is made to operate as the braking conversion diode. When the electric railway vehicle is driven in emergency, the contactor KE for the emergency electric power source is closed (a contactor K is disconnected), the three phase whole wave of AC output of an engine generator EG is rectified by the three phase whole wave rectifier DEM for the emergency electric power source, and a DC voltage obtained therefrom is outputted as a substitute for a voltage of the trolley wire to the electric circuit of motor consisting of a motor armature A and a motor field winding F.
