Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively prevent the turning-round of molten metal to the nonplating side by setting a backup roll and a coating roll in such a manner as to form a desired gap on the side inner than both end parts of a steel strip and passing the steel strip therethrough. CONSTITUTION:In plating molten zinc or the like on one side of a steel strip 1, a backup roll 4 is interposed to a coating roll 3. The rolls 3, 4 are shifted in opposite directions and are set in such a manner that a desired gap (t) is given to end one part of the roll 4 and the roll 3 on the side inner than both end parts of the steel strip 1, in passing the strip therethrough. Thereby, the occurrence of a bridging phenomenon at the one-side plating of the steel strip 1 fed between both rolls 3 and 4 is prevented and the sticking of the molten zinc by turning-roung to the back side is prevented.
