Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an electrical contact material having superior melt-sticking resistance for a medium current range by adding a specified amount of Ag and at least one kind of high m.p. metal such as Fe to Cu as a principal component.
CONSTITUTION: A Cu alloy consisting of 65W90wt% Cu, 5W30wt% Ag and 5W 20wt% at least one kind among metals having high m.p. such as Fe, Ni, Co or Cr is formed to a wire rod by melt rolling, powder metallurgy, spraying or other method, and the rod is riveted to manufacture electrical contacts. This Cu alloy has a uniform fine structure and superior melt-sticking resistance as an electrical contact material for a medium current range.
