Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect a leak hole with high accuracy without spoiling the performance of a membrane by a method wherein a leak position in the fluid treating device incorporating a plain separating membrane or the like and used for dialysis or the like is detected through the vibration of a leaking gas while maintaining the diaphragm in a dried state.
CONSTITUTION: In the fluid treating device, a membrane member consisting of a tubular membrane laminated with a membrane-supporting body is contained in a casing. When air is introduced into the device through an inlet port 1 and is pressurized, the air passes through minute holes of the membrane 7, or passes through the leak hole at a diaphragm part or leaks out through the leak hole at the end part 4 of the device. Since the leaking-out gas generates an inherent vibration, the leakage can be detected by converting the vibration into an electrical signal by a wave receiver 8 placed near the end part 4 and observing the signal by a wave- form observing device 9 and a wave-form recorder 10. In addition, the leak position can be detected accurately by scanning the entire surface of the end part 4 with a scanner 11.
