Abstract
PURPOSE:To decrease a loss in a drive resistance and improve driving efficiency by forming an output transformer for a transistor inverter with a leakage transformer and providing winding for transistor drive on the secondary side of the output transformer. CONSTITUTION:An output transformer 23 for a push-pull type transistor inverter consisting of transistors 24, 25 is formed as a leakage transformer, and on its secondary side, a secondary winding 332 and a drive winding 234 for lighting and electrode discharge lamp 34 are provided. Following this procedure, the drive winding 234 is connected to bases for transistors 24, 25 respectively through a drive circuit 31 composed of a condenser 29 and a diode 30. Consequently, at time of starting the electric discharge lamp 34, a sufficiently powerful drive current is obtained from the drive winding 234. Ater lighting up the lamp, the said current is suppressed to turn to a proper drive current, so that an overdrive is mitigated, resulting in a decrease of the loss and a subsequent improvement of the efficiency.
