Abstract

PURPOSE: To expedite the shift-up of a gear and enable to avoid an operation in the operating area having bad fuel consumption characteristics by a method wherein the timing of the shift-up of a transmission gear is detected electrically and is notified to an operator by an indicating means.

CONSTITUTION: The output of a rack position sensor 2 is converted into a signal RW in accordance with the position of the rack in a rack position signal generator 4 and this signal RW is compared with the preset signal RWS of a presetter 5 with a comparator 6. In case RW≤RWS, the first shift-up signal is generated. On the other hand, the signal NE of number of revolutions of the engine is obtained by the output of an engine speed detector 7 through a revolving speed signal generator 8 and this signal NE is compared with the preset signal NES of a presetter 9 in a comparator 10. In case NE≤NES, the second shift-up signal is genrated. These shift-up signals and an output from a gear position detector 14 are processed in an AND circuit 11 to obtain the shift-up signal thereby putting ON a switch circuit 12 and operating the shift-up indicator 13.
