Abstract
PURPOSE: To liquefy coal with less consumption of hydrogen and to obtain light liquefied oil in a high yield, by a method wherein pulverized coal is reacted with a reducing gas at high temp. under high pressure in a reactor in which surface in contact with reactants is formed by a corrosion-resistant nickel alloy.
CONSTITUTION: A reactor is used in which part of the whole of surface in contact with reactants such as coal and a reducing gas is formed by a corrosion-resistant nickel alloy (e.g. a nickel-molybdenum-chrominum-iron-tungsten alloy). In this reactor, pulverized coal is reacted with a reducing gas (e.g. hydrogen gas, methane gas, hydrogen sulfide gas or ammonia gas) under 20W700kg/cm2 and at 300W600°C to liquefy coal. It is preferred from the viewpoints of liquefaction rate and the promotion of the conversion of liquefied oil to light oil that the pulverized coal is mixed with a solvent such as petroleum heavy oil and the resulting paste is used. It is also preferred to use a catalyst (e.g. iron sulfide) for hydrogenation.
