Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a defect in welding by detecting a beam current penetrating a part to be welded to its reverse side and by controlling a welding speed to keep a current value constant.
CONSTITUTION: When electron beam 2 emitted from electron gun 1 penetrates part 3 to be welded up to its reverse surface, voltage signal device 7 outputs a certain value via antennal electrode 6. Its feedback signal 15 is compared with set signal 16 by comparator 9; when it is less than signal 16, a welding speed is decreased by controlling driving motor 12 via amplifier 10 and driving motor control circuit 13 to increase penetrating beam current 5, thereby equalize signal 15 to set signal 16. Meanwhile, when signal 5 becomes greater than signal 16, motor 12 is controlled via a similar circuit to increase the welding speed. As a result, since current 5 is constant in the welding, the formation of reverse-side bead 17 is uniform, so that the defect in the welding is prevented.
