Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the corrosion prevention effect of a cooler which employs an external electric source of an electric potential preset type, by comparing a current value between an anode and a cathode and a rate of its change with a preset current value and a rate of change of preset current, respectively, and supplying iron ions into the cooling water using their make and break signals.
CONSTITUTION: An electric current from a constant electric potential power source 3 is passed through the cooler 1, cooling pipes 2 and an anode 4 so that the cathode electric potential is retained at a protective electric potential, and comparing a preset electric current value with an electric current value obtained from the constant electric potential power source 3 by the first comparator 5, when the electric current value is larger than the preset electric current value, an iron dissolving apparatus is operated which comprises an iron electrode 9, an electrode 10 of insoluble elecctrode material, and an electric source 8 for dissolving iron.
