Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve productivity and to prevent unlightening caused by short- circuit of outside reeds connected with main and auxiliary electrodes, by providing a reduction step composed of reducing oxides on the surface of outside reeds with flame in combustion of oxygen and hydrogen, and reducing gases for removing the oxides. CONSTITUTION:A reduction devices 19 and 20 equipped with light-mixture combustion type burners employing hydrogen and air in order to reduce oxides on the surfaces of outside reeds 2, 3 and 4 connected with main electrodes 13 and 14 and auxiliary electrode 15 in a luminous lamp 1 for getting them away and to give metallic lustre. In these reduction devices 19 and 20, each of outside reeds 2, 3 and 4 is feated with flame in conbustion of hydrogen and air 21 and 22; feeding air is stopped; hydrogen 23, 24 in hydrogen flame laps outside reeds; and reeds are kept in hydrogen at such a temperature as they are not oxidized even in the open air and cooled. Thus, unlightening caused by short-circuit of outside reeds can be prevented and productivity is increased.
