Abstract
PURPOSE: To fusion-bond aluminum firmly to the plating layer and improve the quality of aluminum-dissimilar metal composite article by preheating the insert metal applied with nickel plating on the surface and insert-casting the aluminum within the die-casting dies.
CONSTITUTION: Plating by electrodeposition is applied on the surface of a dissimilar metal member 3 of iron, copper, titanium and the alloy composed primary of one or more kinds of these, in the plating bath of PH 1.0W3.0 and temperature 50W 70°C containing nickel chloride and boric acid. At this time, the electrodeposition is carried out at the electric current density of 2.0W10A/dm2 to form the multiple conical protrusions having sharply pointed ends on the surface of the nickel plating layer 2 of thickness 15 micron or more. Next, the metal member 3 having undergone plating is preheated at 150W500°C and is disposed in the specified position of the die-casting dies. Thence, molten aluminum or aluminum alloy of 620W730°C is poured into the mold, whereby the dissimilar metal member 3 is insert-casting and fusion-combined by aluminum or its alloy 1.
