Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the size of a water turbine type wave activated power plant and to lower the manufacturing cost of the same, by employing such an arrangement to turn a turbine by the force of water flow so that a greater output can be obtained as compared with substantially equal sized arrangements utilizing air flow.
CONSTITUTION: There is formed a turbine chamber 14, in which a turbine 16 is supported on a turning shaft 15 connected to a generator or the like (no shown). End portions of water discharging pipes 12, 12 are connected to an opening of the turbine chamber 14 located on the pressurizing side of the turbine 16, while end portions of water drawing pipes 13, 13 are connected to another opening of the chamber 14 located on the opposite side b of the turbine 16. Here, arrangement is such that the wave height on the outside of main tanks 4, 4 is lower than the tops of the tanks 4, 4 as shown by a chain line WL+ but higher than the bottoms of tanks 4, 4 as shown by a chain line WL-. With such an arrangement, the turbine 16 can be turned in a particular direction when sea water is passed through the apparatus with change of the water head. Therefore, the output can be increased as compared with the arrangements utilizing air flow, and the apparatus can be made compact and economical.
