Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a product of high purity efficiently by a method wherein the back pressure at the time of discharging a residual liquid to the outside of a solidification chamber is set at a specified value, in separation and purification of the substance by use of fractional crystallization.
CONSTITUTION: In a condition where valves 13, 11 are closed, a raw material liquid is fed into the solidification chamber 3 while pushing an inside piston 5 upward so as to fill the chamber 3 with the liquid, then a valve 12 is closed and the supply of the liquid under pressure is further continued. As a result, the pressure in the chamber 3 is increased, whereby a solid is separated out from the liquid to establish a solid-liquid coexistence. Then, a valve 10 is closed, the valve 11 is opened (the valves 12, 13 are closed) and a pressure-regulating valve 20 is set at the upper limit of pressure for solid-liquid separation, after which the piston 5 is lowered by applying a force (f) thereto and only the liquid in the chamber 3 is moved into a waste-liquid chamber 4 through a filter 17. Then, the valves 12, 13 are opened to return the pressure in a container 1 to the atmospheric pressure and the solid separated and left in the chamber 3 is melted, after which the piston 5 is lowered to take out the liquid product of high purity via a taking-out port 8.
