Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber, having improved antistatic properties, fiber quality, appearance, fastness to heat, light and washing and stability, by dispersing a polyethylene oxide as an antistatic agent in an aromatic polyester finely in a specific state.
CONSTITUTION: Spinning materials of (A) a fiber-forming aromatic polyester, preferably a modified polyethylene terephthalate containing 2W10wt% copolymerized polyalkylene oxide, and (B) a polyethylene oxide, preferably a copolymer with a polyester, are joined at a point J1, divided at a point S1, rejoined at a point J2 and divided at a point S2, and the mixing operations are repeated in a multilayering and mixing vessel. The materials (A) and (B) are then spun to give the aimed fiber in which the component (B) is finely dispersed and mixed in the component (A) and at least partly continuous in the long direction of the fiber, and the component (B) is dispersed into many spots having a diameter ≤0.5μm over a length of 1/4 or more the diameter thereof in the cross section.
