Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the high-quality fire-retardant polyamide with excellent heat resistance, by a method wherein a polyamide forming monomer with added melamine and cyanuric acid is polymerized under heating in the presence of water and a specific heat stabilizer is compounded in the resulting polyamide.
CONSTITUTION: A polyamide forming monomer with added melamine and an equimolar amount of cyanuric acid is polymerized under heating in the presence of 5wt% or more water. Further, during or after said polymerization, a heat stabilizer selected from (A), (B) and (C) hereinafter described is compounded. That is, based on the obtained polyamide, (A) 0.001W0.2wt% copper compound, (B) 0.001W0.2wt% copper compound and 0.005W1.0wt% alkali metal halide, (C) 0.001W0.2wt% copper compound, 0.005W1.2wt% alkali metal halide and 0.001W 0.5wt% tin compound.
