Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain excellent welding results in TIG welding and pulse TIG welding and pulse TIG welding which do not use a backing strip in which a prescribed bead width and bead secctional area are obtained, by specifying setting of welding conditions.
CONSTITUTION: The sectional shape of a liquid existing between solids having a cpnstant thickness (h), is estimated by calculation from the theory of two-dimentional interface tension. In this case, mark + means plotted points showing BW and /Am on the graph. The values, /H, BW, and /A are the values of thickness of solid (h), interval of solids bw, and sectional area of liquid Am transformed into dimension-less values by the capillary tube constant (2σ/ρg)0.5 (ρ;σ; density of liquid; surface tension, (g); gravitational acceleration) which shows the property of liquid. When interval of solids Bw is constant, the upper and lower surfaces of liquid show extremely concaved shape when amount of liquid /Am is small. As amount of liquid /Am increases, the lower surface of liquid becomes convexed shape from flat surface and the upper surface becomes flat. These calculation results are applicable to the bead sectional shapes of penetration welding.
