Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R is H or OH-protecting group) or its OH-protected derivative.
EXAMPLE: 25-Hydroxy-26,26,26-trifluorovitamin D3.
USE: Drug having bone resorption activity or calcium absorption activity through the intestinal canals of mammals, similar to known vitamin D3 compounds.
PROCESS: The compound of formula III or its OH-protected derivative can be prepared by irradiating UV-light (200W360nm, pref. 260W310nm) to the compound of formula II or its OH-protected derivative pref. in an inert organic solvent at -20W +120°C. Isomerization of the compound of formula III with thermal energy, followed by optional removal of the OH-protecting group, gives the compound of formula I or its OH-protected derivative.
