Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable favorable measurement of the whole flow rate at the cross section of the water channel, even of a wide open channel, and also enable confirmation of precision of flow rate by providing at least one flow-speed detector in a plurality of supporting bodies respectively which are provided at intervals in the direction of width of the water channel. CONSTITUTION:The level of water in the channel S is measured by an ultrasonic wave type level meter 4 and a level detector 4a and the outputs thereof are inputted in a flow-rate operator 7. Moreover, n units of supporting bodies Y are arranged at appropriate intervals on an elevating supporting body 8 provided along the direction of width within the channel S, while ultrasonic Doppler flow-speed detecting elements (probes) 5-1-5-n are provided in the supporting bodies Y, and the flow speed of fluid is calculated sequentially by scanning operation of a scanning device 6 by means of a flow-speed meter 5. Based on the input of a level measurement signal from the level meter 4 and of each flow-speed measurement signal from a flow-speed meter 5, the operator 7 operates and calculates the flow rate of discharged water passing through the whole cross-sectional part of the channel S in positions where the probes are arranged and the results thereof are indicated in an indicator 10.
