Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to replace valves and valve seats at a short time while the main valve body is being assembled in a pipeline system by using a cartridge system, in a ball valve.
CONSTITUTION: When a cartridge case 11 is set steadily in a space within a main valve body 2, the side of a fluid passing hole 12 is pushed against the main valve body 2 by the operation of a tapered surface 14. A gasket 22 maintains a tight closure to prevent a fluid from flowing into a clearance between a case 11 and the main valve body 2. The case 11, a ball 3 contained therein valve seats 4A and 4B and an adjustor 5 form a cartridge 10. In order to inspect the valve, a bolt 61 is released to remove a bonnet 6 and a bonnet stem 7. Then, the cartridge 10 can be easily taken out. If the cartridge 10 requires repair, it is replaced by a new cartridge and the bonnet 6 is again fixed.
