Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare (Z)-8-nonen-5-one derivative which is a starting material for the easy preparation of cis-jasmone useful as a perfume, by reacting cis-alkenyl copper compound with an α,β-unsaturated ketone.
CONSTITUTION: A (Z)-8-nonen-5-one derivative of formula III (R is alkyl; R1 and R2 are H or lower alkyl) is prepared by reacting a cis-alkenyl copper compound of formula I (L is liqand) with an α,β-unsaturated ketone of formula II pref. in the presence of an organic phosphorus compound such as hexamethylphosphorous amide to increase the activity of the compound of formula I. The hydrolyzation and successive cyclization of the resulting compound easily affords cis-jasmone. the compound of formula I can be easily and stereo-specifically synthesized from known compounds, and the compound of formula II can also be prepared from an easily and industrially available compound.
