Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove stuck dust by immersing and treating a contact lens in a solution containing hypohalogenide.
CONSTITUTION: A contact lens is immersed and treated in a solution which contains hypohalogenide of alkali or alkaline earth metal, such as lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium of hypochlorous acid, alkali or alkaline earth metal of hypobromous acid, alkali or alkaline earth metal of hypoiodous acid, etc. Consequently, dust, such as protein, which is not removed only by being washed with a surface active agent can be removed. The immersing treatment should be done at about 1.00W20,000ppm concentration for about 3minW24hr. A nonhydrous contact lens is rinsed with running water, etc., after the immersing treatment, but a hydrous contact is treated with a reducing agent, such as sodium thiosulfate and ascorbic acid, for harmlessness.
