Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled fiber, etc. having improved recovery characteristics, thermal stability, light and chemical resistance in high efficiency, by melt spinning a block copolymer of polybutylene terephthalate, etc. with a polyalkylene ether glycol, and drawing the resultant fiber at a specific ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A block copolymer consisting of (A) polybutylene terephthalate or a copolyester consisting of butylene terephthalate units essentially as a hard segment and (B) a polyalkylene ether glycol consisting of polytetramethylene ether glycol as a soft segment is melt spun and then drawn at a draw ratio ≥2 to give the aimed elastic fiber. The resultant fiber is woven or knitted with other fibers and heat-treated in a relaxed state to give an elastic fabric.
