PURPOSE:To enhance the response characteristics of the amount of ink jetted by a method wherein a through-hole provided in an air passage extending from an air valve to a nozzle is closed or stopped according as a recording voltage signal increases or decreases. CONSTITUTION:When the air pressure in an air introducing chamber 13 is increased by opening of the air valve 4 of an actuator 1 as a result of a rise in the recording signal in correspondence with a higher-density part of image information, a valve member 32 closes the through-hole 31a to accelate the sucking-out of ink via an ink nozzle 16. On the other hand, when the recording signal is lowered in response to a lower-density part of the image information, the air valve 4 is closed, the air pressure in the chamber 13 is lowered, and the valve member 32 returns to its original position due to the flexibility of its own to open the through-hole 31a, thereby restricting the sucking-out of ink via the nozzle 16.
