Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the simultaneous ON of both GTOs within turn-OFF time by inhibiting gas signals to one GTO when the other GTO (a gate turn-OFF thyristor) is at ON. CONSTITUTION:When signals instructing an OFF condition of a GTO1 are applied to a terminal 15, the signals are transmitted to a current amplifier IAMP, a photocoupler PC1 and an amplifier 7', and a gate amplifier instantaneously starts the turn-OFF of the GTO1. The gate currents of the GTO1 are detected by means of a gate current detector CT1 at that time, and inhibiting signals are forwarded from a gate current discriminating signal generator 9 during the time when the gate currents flow. Since the gate currents gas zero when turn-OFF action is completed, the time when the signal generator 9 emits the inhibiting signals corresponds to a turn-OFF action period of the GTO1. Thus, the inputting of ON signals to a gate amplifier 3 of a GTO2 is inhibited during a period when the inhibiting signals are forwarded.
