PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a recording medium and the dispersiblity, etc., of magnetic powder by using as binder components of a magnetic recording medium a specific vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, low-molecular-weight polyol and alkyl sulfosuccinate in combination. CONSTITUTION:For a magnetic recording medium obtained by coating the base with magnetic powder together with binder components, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer (A) containing a >=10wt% vinyl alcohol unit, low-moleculer-weight polyol (B) by about 5-50wt% of the total weight of component A, and dialkyl sulfosuccinate (C) expressed by the formula (where R1 and R2 are alkyl and M is univalent metal) by about 0.1-10wt% of magnetic powder are used as binder components. Further, low-molecular-weight polyisocyanate (D) (e.g. m-phenylenediisocyanate) is preferably used.
