Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent an annular seal from damage when it is inserted into an annular groove provided in an end of inner peripheral surface of the second shaft receiving the first one by forming said seal with the length in axial direction longer than the length in the radial direction of the shaft.
CONSTITUTION: The second shaft 12 supporting the first shaft 13 with rotary freedom is provided on an end of its inner peripheral surface with an annular groove 14 comprising a bottom surface 14a having the inner diameter larger than that of said surface and a chamfer 14b increasing progressively its inner diameter toward an end of the second shaft 12 to prevent a seal 17 from damage when it is inserted into the bottom surface 14a. The section of the seal 17 cut by a plane containing the axis X is symmetrical about radial line y and has a generally elliptic shape having the length (a) in the axial direction x longer than that (b) in the radial direction y of the shaft.
