Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise up comfort in driving a car and reduce the noise by turning on and off an electric magnet in compliance with the change of vibration range and, thereby, setting the damping coefficient larger in the vibration control range and smaller in the vibration preventive range. CONSTITUTION:A switch 24 is turned off in the vibration control range, and an electric magnet 22 is inactive. Accordingly, magnetic fine-particles 28 in the magnetic fluid are not magnetized, floating in chambers 18, 19, and the viscosity coefficient becomes larger. It is therefore difficult for the magnetic fluid 26 to flow through the orifice 17 even when vibratory input frim a bracket E has deformed the insulator rubber 13, that will give a large damping force. In the vibration preventive range, on the other hand, the switch 24 is turned on the electric magnet 22 is actuated, so that the magnetic fine-particles 28 are attracted by the head part of an iron core 20 and a magnetized sealing plate 16 and the distribution of particles in each chamber 18, 19 will have unevenness. Therefore, resistance against the magnetic fluid flowing through the orifice 17 reduces and the damping force is lessened.
