Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the dispersion of the sensitivity of oscillator and to enable transmission and reception of ultrasonic wave information in a medium without distortion, by using the rubber cork plate as buffle and taking the radius of ultrasonic wave oscillator as about 1/10 or less than the wave length of ultrasonic waves. CONSTITUTION:The sound pressure exerted to an ultrasonic wave oscillator (array element) 1 is double since the oscillator 1 is almost a complete rigid body. The sound body exerted to the oscillator 1 is in acoustic-electric conversion, and amplified at the associated electronic circuit 5 and transmitted on land with a transmission cable 6. When the rubber cork plate is used as buffle, since the rubber cork plate 2 shows the effect cancelling the sound pressure to the direction of + or -90 deg., i.e., the sound waves from parallel direction as the arranging plane of the array, the directivity of the array element 1 is a directivity smaller in the sensitivity toward + or -90 deg., i.e., unidirectivity. Since the radius of the array element 1 is less than about 1/10 of the wave length of the ultrasonic waves, the directivity is undirectional to reduce the dispersion in the sensitivity of the array elements 1.
