Abstract
PURPOSE: To concentrate an aqueous solution at a low cost, by heating the aqueous solution to be concentrated by evaporation using solar heat, and evaporating it under a reduced pressure in a flash tank.
CONSTITUTION: Aqueous solution 2 containing a solute is allowed to flow through heat collecting pipe 1a of solar heat collector 1, and heated to a high temperature. Heated solution 2 enters heat storage tank 3, and its temperature is gradually raised by recirculating it through heat collector 1. Part of it is introduced into flash tank 5 with pressure reduced and evaporated because of boiling point fall of solution 2 due to reduction of the pressure. The vapor is condensed in condenser 6, and solution is recirculated into heat collector 1, and part of it is taken out of discharge pipe 10 as a concentrated solution. A fresh aqueous solution 2 is replenished by the amount fed to flash tank 5 minus the amount of concentrate recirculated to collector 1. This evaporator need not use fuel as a heat source, permitting the concentrate to be produced at low cost.
