Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize both the A/D and D/A conversions by means of the same IC, by using an input register, a binary weighting circuit, a differential amplifier plus a circuit connection between the output terminal of the differential amplifier and the 2nd input terminal. CONSTITUTION:The serial digital data is put into the serial data input terminal 7 and then sent successively to the shift register 1. Each bit output of the register 1 drives the switch of the switch circuit 2 corresponding to the bit output. The binary weighting circuit 3 delivers the binary weighted voltage that is generated from the circuit 2. This voltage is applied to the positive input of the differential amplifier 4. An external connection is given between the negative analog input terminal 5 of the amplifier 4 and the analog input terminal 6, and thus the amplifier 4 delivers the output voltage of the circuit 3 directly to the common output point of the terminals 5 and 6. When the analog signal is supplied to the terminal 5, the amplifier 4 compares the scale between the analog signal and the output voltage of the circuit 3 and then delivers the result of comparison in the form of a digital data.
