PURPOSE:To stably maintain oil soluble photographic additives even in the high temp. and high humidity by using ester of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentane diol as a solvent for the additives to stably disperse them in a hydrophilic colloidal soln. contg. a photosensitive material. CONSTITUTION:Ester of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentane diol represented by the formula (where each of R1 and R2 is H, 1-8C alkyl, aralkyl or aryl) is used as a solvent for oil soluble photographic additives such as a coupling agent and an ultraviolet absorber. The solvent enhances the dispersion stability of the additives and prevents the uneven coating of a photosensitive material layer and an image quality lowering. In addition, it enhances the light, heat and moisture resistances of the resulting dye image. Since the compound is easily biodegraded, no pollution is caused after disposal.
